Prisoners at Highpoint are being denied 'meaningful training' to help prevent them re-offending, due to a lack of Government funds, a report claims.
The Independent Monitoring Board's (IMB) report into Highpoint Prison, in Stradishall, warned that further savings demanded by the Government, left a 'bleak' outlook.
"At Highpoint, there is still no substantive preparation to provide men with training and qualifications to assist their chances of employment after having been released.
"In the 21st century, the continuing reduction in resources provided to the Prison Service has got to be considered as a national disgrace," the report said.
